Privacy Policy – Baan Maa The Dog House

Who we are

At Baan Maa, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or engage with our services.

Data Collection and Usage

Comments

When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data entered in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar privacy policy can be found here: Automattic Privacy Policy. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, please ensure they do not contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract location data from images posted online.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Baan Maa and our partners, including marketing, analytics, and advertising service providers, use cookies and similar technologies to track trends, administer our website, analyze visitor behavior, and gather demographic data.

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience. These will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will be set to check if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, several cookies are set to save your login information and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, while screen option cookies last for a year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps your login active for two weeks.

For details on managing cookies, visit AboutCookies.org.

We also use Google Analytics, Google Ads, and Meta (Facebook) cookies, which may track your behavior across sites.

Baan Maa collects donor information to process and receipt donations, as well as to provide updates about our work through email, mail, phone, and advertising. You can unsubscribe at any time.

If you subscribe to our email updates, we collect your name, email address, and phone number (if provided). This information is securely processed by MailerLite. To learn more about their privacy policy, click here.

Embedded Content & Third-Party Services

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you had visited those websites directly. These sites may collect data, use cookies, embed tracking, and monitor your interaction, including tracking if you have an account and are logged in.

We work with third-party advertising partners who may use cookies to show relevant ads based on your browsing activity. You can opt out by adjusting your browser settings.

Data Retention & Your Rights

  • If you leave a comment, it and its metadata are retained indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-ups automatically instead of holding them for moderation.
  • If you register on our website, we store personal information provided in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete your data at any time (except for changing usernames).
  • If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

You can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you or request that we erase any personal data we hold, except where we are legally required to retain it.

Legal & Security Compliance

Baan Maa will never sell or share your personal information, except where required by law. We may disclose your information if legally obligated, such as in response to a subpoena or legal request.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
