Barney has been with us since the very beginning. Before there was a rescue, there was Barney. He was a stray caring for three young puppies, doing everything he could to keep them alive despite having very little himself. That quiet loyalty and sense of responsibility has stayed with him ever since.

When Barney first arrived, he kept his distance. He would come close enough to watch us, but not close enough to touch. With time, patience, and gentle routines, he began to trust. Now he enjoys ear scratches, follows the people he loves, and has become a steady presence around the rescue. His confidence has grown so much in the past year, and it has been incredible to watch.

Barney has taken on a natural role as a mentor to the younger dogs. He helps new arrivals settle, shows them how to interact, and is often the first to guide nervous dogs into play. His gentle leadership and fun loving personality make him an invaluable part of the Baan Maa family. He is not just a dog in our care. He is one of the foundations the rescue was built on.
